Authorities in Southern California have uncovered a large-scale retail theft operation involving more than $600,000 worth of stolen construction tools, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said two suspects were arrested Friday for allegedly running a resale scheme that targeted multiple Home Depot stores across the region.
Rather than stealing the items themselves, the suspects are believed to have acted as intermediaries—purchasing stolen goods from thieves and reselling them for profit at a flea market in Los Angeles County.
A search warrant executed at the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of a large quantity of construction equipment, with the total value exceeding $600,000.
Authorities said the identities of the suspects have not yet been released as the investigation continues. Officials are still working to determine which specific stores were targeted and to identify the individuals responsible for stealing the merchandise.
While the primary resale operation has been shut down, investigators emphasized that the case remains ongoing as they attempt to dismantle the broader organized retail crime network.
Recovered items are expected to be processed as evidence before being returned or disposed of through official channels.
